WCAG & ADA Accessibility Audits for Ecommerce

Checkout is the single highest-risk journey on an ecommerce site: it's the one flow every visitor eventually has to complete, and it's usually the most JavaScript-heavy, most frequently redesigned part of the whole store.

Where the risk actually sits

Overview

Courts have repeatedly extended ADA Title III — written for "places of public accommodation" — to commercial websites, and ecommerce checkout is where that exposure concentrates. Unlike a marketing page a visitor can skip past, checkout has to be completed by every paying customer, which makes any barrier in that flow both a compliance risk and a direct, measurable revenue loss. It's also usually the part of the site with the most custom JavaScript — quantity steppers, variant pickers, coupon fields, saved-payment selectors — each one a place a generic theme audit tends to miss.

Source-level fixes, not a workaround.

We audit the full purchase journey — product listing, product detail, cart, and checkout — against WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, with particular focus on the custom JS interactions a generic scan tends to under-report. Fixes are patched into your actual theme or storefront code (not a runtime overlay), tested against real assistive technology, and retested after your next release, since checkout is also the part of the site most likely to change.
