ADA & WCAG Compliance for Shopify

Shopify's theme and app ecosystem makes it fast to launch, and just as fast to ship inaccessible checkout flows. We audit the actual rendered storefront — not the theme demo — and fix what's actually broken in Liquid and JS.

Where the risk actually sits

Overview

Most Shopify accessibility problems don't come from Shopify itself — they come from the theme, the app stack layered on top of it, and JS-driven interactions like quick-add and cart drawers that were built for visual polish, not keyboard or screen-reader use. Because checkout is a hosted, largely locked-down flow, a store owner often assumes it's someone else's problem to fix. In practice, most of the real risk sits one layer up, in the theme and app code you do control, and that's exactly where Title III lawsuits against ecommerce sites have focused.

Source-level fixes, not a workaround.

We audit the live theme — including every installed app — against WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, then patch the actual Liquid templates and JS for focus management and ARIA labeling, rather than layering a workaround on top. Because checkout itself is hosted by Shopify, we test that flow end to end and document what's fixable in Checkout Extensibility versus what's a platform constraint. Fixes ship to your theme, so they hold across future edits instead of resetting on the next app install.
